| KPI was created to support children in the homes of family or friends
who have committed to caring for them when birth parents cannot.
Eligibility is only available for children you assumed custody of on or after July 1, 2005. A judge has ruled that your child was abused, neglected, dependent or unruly. A judge awarded legal custody of the child to you after July 1, 2005. Your income is not higher than 200% of federal poverty guidelines. To receive the cash payments, eligible families must apply through their county public children services agency and complete a family home assessment.
