Types of Jobs at RCJFS
Ross County Job &
Family Services utilizes both full-time and part-time staff in
both direct service and administrative areas.
Employees will fall into one of
several appointment types:
Probationary:
A person who is serving a probationary period following an
initial appointment or promotion.
Permanent:
A classified employee who has passed the probationary period for
their position.
Intermittent:
A type of unclassified appointment.
Intermittent positions are limited
to 1000 hours of work in a calendar year.
These hours may either be worked on
a call-in basis, or have a schedule that is not predictable for
the entire calendar year.
Unclassified:
Any position that does not fall
within the classified service as defined by the Ohio Revised
Code.
Examples would be:
Student Help, Intermittent, Student
Interns, AmeriCorps Volunteers, and the Director.
Unclassified appointments serve at
the pleasure of the Appointing Authority.
Students:
We utilize high-school students through the Chillicothe High
School Cooperative Business Education program.
We also use college students in
various positions, including the AmeriCorps program.
