Human Resources

Hiring Process

Once a position is available for outside applicants, it will be posted under City / County / State / Federal Employment on www.chillicothejobbank.net and / or advertised in The Chillicothe Gazette, other newspapers, and/or posted with university and professional job banks. Interested applicants may respond in the manner specified on the job posting.

Resumes are screened by the Human Resources Department based upon the minimum qualifications for the position. Resumes should clearly detail how the minimum qualifications are met. Only applicants meeting the minimum qualifications for the positions will be eligible for an interview. Due to the high volume of resumes received, not all applicants will move onto the interview phase of the selection process.

Applicants that submit a resume to the Human Resources Department will receive a post card that will confirm receipt. Due to the high volume of resumes received on a regular basis, applicants are not encouraged to call and check on their resume if they have received a confirmation post card.

If you are selected for a screening interview, you will be contacted by the Human Resource Department. A pre-interview packet will be sent for your review and completion prior to your interview. This packet will include instructions to complete an Ohio Civil Service Application which may be found and completed by clicking here.

Interview Teams are comprised of an HR representative, the vacancy's Supervisor and Administrator and, when possible, a Co-Worker. Recommendation for selection is made by the Interview Team to the Director, who has final decision authority. Human Resources will notify applicants of the final decision of selection or non-selection. Co-Appointing Authority for hiring rests with the Director and Ross County Commissioners.

Recommended applicants are subject to the successful completion of job-related background checks including electronic fingerprinting and driving records when applicable. All offers of employment are contingent upon approval of these background checks.
